2020 Dorado Derby Tournament Results Out of Marina Pez Vela – Quepos, Costa Rica
Report by Benn Gilmour fishing on Good Day out of Marina Pez Vela
In a fun and relaxed fishing format to see who could catch the largest Dorado and get a share of the $16,000 prize purse on offer.
What a day it was yesterday! 28 boats competed here at Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, Costa Rica. After the crazy storm & lots of rain we had earlier this week from Hurricane ETA, the Dorado arrived in numbers right on time with plenty of debris in the form of trees, logs etc floating around and creating some nice debris lines offshore.
We had a blast with Team Peyton’s Pirates fishing aboard Good Day for the second year in succession for this tournament. Plenty of fish out there and we caught lots in the 20lb range but we could just not find a big one. Great fishing though!
Congrats to Pescadora for wining with a 46lb Dorado for $5000+ The Hooker for 2nd with a 36lb fish for $7000, as the winning team did not go in one of the Jackpots and Top Fly in 3rd with 34lb.
Everyone was just happy to be involved, enjoy a day on the water with friends and get back to some kind of normality.
Huge thanks to the Team at Marina Pez Vela for another great event!
Next weekend we have the Quepos Billfish Cup & then we are hosting The Dorado Re-Derby on Nov 21st, let me know if you would like info on either event, still great boats available.
