Costa Rica Roosterfish Satellite Tagging Update
Costa Rica fishing update out of Maria Pez Vela, Quepos, Costa Rica
by Captain Benn Gilmour,
Some fantastic things have been happening this past week out of the Marina Pez Vela
An amazing collection of people got together in the name of science, fishing & research to help better understand & protect one of Costa Rica & Central America’s most important game fish, the Roosterfish.
During the first part of this study that we commenced last year, one of the Roosterfish that we satellite tagged traveled a few hundred miles from Costa Rica to Nicaragua in less than a month, exceeding all our expectations about what we think of as a fairly ‘resident’ fish.
We are looking forward to seeing what the results of this latest study discover as we learn more about the Roosterfish. The Double Nickel, The Big Eye II, and Jackpot Sport Fishing were just a few of the boats out of Quepos to help Gray FishTag with this important study on Roosterfish. Thank you!
Huge thanks to all involved for their support & dedication to protecting our fishery in Costa Rica.
