Costa Rica Celebrates Mother’s Day in the Time of Covid19

Happy Mothers Day Costa Rica

Costa Rica Celebrates Mother’s Day in Costa Rica amid Covid19 lock-downs and strict self distancing rules.

Mother’s Day or Día de la Madre is a National Holiday and one of the most important days of the year in Costa Rica.

Mother’s Day is by far one of the most important Holidays in Costa Rica. Tourists are often surprised to find lots of stores and or services closed for the day or the weekend in order to celebrate this important event. Large family congregations and trips to the beach and fun activities featuring extravagant food and flower arrangements are the norm. This year, even with social distancing, don’t expect the Ticos (Affectionate term for Costa Ricans) to let Covid19 put too much of a damper on their love for their mothers. Group gatherings will likely be smaller and held mainly at home this year but the festive spirit will be alive and well.  Fecop would like to extend a warm thank you on this Mother’s Day to all the mothers working hard to keep their children educated, safe, and healthy in one of the most difficult times in modern history.
