Costa Rica is famous for world record sport fishing – Julieth Castro Sanchz may have set yet another

Cubera Snapper RecordJulieth Castro Sanchz recently caught this incredible 32-kilogram (70-pound, 8-ounce) Pacific cubera snapper to potentially set the new IGFA Women’s 24-kg (50 lb) Line Class World Record. Julieth was jigging a 100g Williamson Jig out of Esterillos Oeste, Costa Rica , when the massive cubera struck. After a 13-minute fight the crew was able to gaff the snapper and pull it aboard. Thank you to IGFA Representative, Federico Hampl, for assisting Julieth in getting a certified weight and all the required materials. From IGFA.

At last count, there were more than 80 current IGFA world record fish from Costa Rica waters including 21 all-tackle marks. We always have over 80 IGFA world’s records standing with at least 21 all tackle, 41 Line Test records & 18 Fly Fish Records.
