New Lineup For 2020 Fishing Tournaments Announced at Marina Pez Vela
Marina Pez Vela has announced new dates for it’s world class fishing tournament lineup that were temporarily postponed due to Covid19. Some of Costa Rica’s largest events take place annually in Quepos Costa Rica, home to Marina Pez Vela. Here is the new schedule:
Dorado Derby 2020
07 Nov
The Dorado Derby is a one day team event with top-team honors going to the team that weighs the heaviest Dorado during the tournament. Prizes pay down to third place. The tournament will award cash, and prizes to the team(s) that weigh the heaviest three (3) Dorado.
Aggregate Weight Award: Top Team weighing the heaviest 3 Dorado will receive an award.

Marina Pez Vela Championship Series Event
GUN DIVISION – IGFA TOURNAMENT
The Tournament is a two day billfish team event with top-team honors going to the team that tallies the most billfish release points during the tournament. Prizes pay down to third place (first, second, and third). The tournament will award trophies, cash, and prizes to the team(s) that score the most accumulated points for marlin and sailfish releases.
Marina Pez Vela Open 2020
Dec 04 2020 – Dec 05 2020
The 2020 Marina Pez Vela Open is the second leg of the Marina Pez Vela Championship Series. A two-day fishing tournament scheduled to pair with other Costa Rican tournaments.
2 New Divisions:
- “GUN” Division: Anglers must catch and release their own billfish. IGFA rules apply.
- “FUN” Division: Crew may help hook fish and pass the rod to an angler. Boats of any size may participate in our “Fun” Division
5th ANNUAL PELAGIC ROCKSTAR OFFSHORE TOURNAMENT
The PELAGIC Rockstar Offshore Tournament is a team event with cash, prizes, and awards estimated to over $500,000. Labeled as “Central America’s Largest & Richest Fishing Tournament”, the Rockstar Offshore Tournament annually sees teams travel from all over the world to compete for the prestigious title of tournament grand champion and win some serious CA$H. To date, The Rockstar has awarded over $2 MILLION in CA$H prizes and multiple $100,000+ cash prize winners!
