Inshore Fishing Los Suenos

Los Sueños Inshore Fishing Report

By Captain Carlos Arguedas • Wing Man Sport Fishing

Costa Rica Roosterfish(Snapper photo above)Nice big cubera snapper for good friend Billy from New Jersey fishing the reef during the morning. We had a few bites and lost a couple of good fish until Billy hooked up this monster after a nice battle. A happy angler indeed! January and February around central pacific area out of Los Sueños Resort, Jacó was a very crazy month for roosterfish. Good reports with up to 10 or 12 roosterfish in a day on some days and some good size fish as well. Very good fishing action around the rocks for small yellowtail and rock snappers.
Trolling live sardines and seeing the fish blasting on them is a whole show that takes place almost every day, other than the days the swells pick up and we can’t get to them. On the other hand bait has been showing up at the reef and even if we have had some slow days. We’re having good bites and catching some nice size cuberas and amberjacks, along with some mullett snappers, but the broomtails have been staying away from us this year. We’re hoping to see the same amount of bait at the reef in the months of March and April.
We also expect a good bite for cubera and amberjack, as well as Mullet snappers. The inshore bait has been showing up a bit better as the north winds are coming down. We hope to find more bait around and have a good March and April around the rocks for rooster fishing and all the critters that show up fishing the rocks along shore.
